Help Make Leslie and Joe Cooper's
Life Easier

GoFund Me for Joe Cooper

Hi everyone, this is Ashley Haspel. For those of you who don’t know me, Leslie Cooper and I are best friends! Last year I rented a scooter for Leslie so that she could get around for Carnival, because she was supposed to have knee surgery after Carnival. Surgery still has not happened since Joe was shot, and her knee is only getting worse. This year they both could really use scooters for Carnival, French Quarter Fest, Jazz Fest, and Jazz Camp. Leslie and I have priced renting vs. purchasing for all of these events, and the price is the same. By purchasing scooters they will be able to attend these events that cover large distances without difficulty. We have found a place here in the NOLA area that has them in stock and under warranty. The GoFundMe that people donated to after Joe was shot is being used for medical and living expenses since neither can go back to full-time work at the moment. They are currently in the process of ordering a new wheelchair for him through his insurance. The wheelchair will make everyday living easier for Joe, but distance will still be an issue for both of them. I know you want to see them at all of these events as much as I do. Please help me make this wish come true for them so that we can all be together and have a good time.

About Krewe du Vieux

The Krewe du Vieux is a non-profit organization dedicated to the historical and traditional concept of a Mardi Gras parade as a venue for individual creative expression and satirical comment. It is unique among all Mardi Gras parades in the city because it alone carries on the old traditions of Carnival celebrations, by using decorated mule-drawn floats with satirical themes, accompanied by costumed revelers dancing in the streets to the sounds of jazzy street musicians. We believe in exposing the world to the true nature of Mardi Gras—and in exposing ourselves to the world.
